The Situation
The Gulf Coast Aerospace Corridor is home to numerous research universities, aerospace and defense companies, and military activities.
All of these organizations share a critical need; project managers! 1,916 to be exact!
According to a search of this of this geographical region on indeed.com, we see salary ranges for project manager positions starting at $57,000.00 USD to $110,000.00 USD, in places ranging from New Orleans to Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and from Mobile, AL to Kiln, MS.
Additionally, all of these project manager jobs are with recognized employers such as the Universities of South Alabama and West Florida, Booze Allen Hamilton, General Dynamics, Intralox, Bellwether Technology, Lucid, USAF and USN, American Express, BASF, CACI, BAE, Truitt Health, Raytheon, and THOR.
If you are a transitioning military Member, Veteran or Retiree (“Veteran”), this is amazing news for you! You see, many Veterans have a significant amount of project management experience, talent, and conditioning, i.e. you are already experienced as project managers! The trick is ‘qualifying’ your experience and making it commercially viable. This has been traditionally tough for many Veterans to do, and even tougher for civilian organizations to understand.
The Solution
Vets2PM will be in the Gulf Coast Aerospace Corridor for the first time ever October 3-7 2016! During our inaugural week-long PMP®/CAPM® Exam Boot Camp, we will show attendees how to convert their personal military project management experience into commercially viable project management experience! This will allow them to complete their PMI applications, enhance their resumes, and have solid, shiny soundbites for their project management interviews.
Additionally, we will train them how to use the PMBOK® Guide to manage civilian projects and pass the PMP®/CAPM® exam on it; all while using examples parallel between the military and civilian project environments and live hands-on table-top exercises!
Furthermore, each Plank Owning attendee at this October course will receive a custom 2-page Executive resume, a 4-hour Interview Skills Workshop, lifetime job placement and coaching assistance in our PM Talent Pool©, and a Vets2PM Founder’s challenge coin to commemorate their experience!
We will also be available to local PMI Chapter leadership to train their trainers to carry out PMI’s mission of reaching out to the military community.
